Thugs Attack Catholic University Female Student
A Fourth year Catholic University female student has been admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital in Blantyre after she was attacked by a group of unidentified young men.
Catholic University' s Registrar, Vincent Nkhoma has confirmed the development to Zodiak and has identified the student as , Rashida Majidi who was attacked earlier this week
Nkhoma said the unknown criminals who put on face masks attempted to undress the girl and when she shouted for help , the thugs poured liquid like substance suspected to be acid on the girl's face before abandoning her. She was rushed to Nguludi Mission hospital by well wishers where she was referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
"The liquid substance heavily affected her eyes so much so that she was unable to see properly at the time we rushed her to the hospital. She was also heavily vomiting, we suspect she might have swallowed the liquid substance" , said Nkhoma.
Meanwhile speaking during a separate interview, the University's Students Union president, Venetia Kamulete says the incident has traumatized most students at the university especially female students and she has called on school authorities to tighten security at the university school.
Meanwhile, Police in Chiradzulu say they are still investigating the matter to arrest the perpetrators.
