Central High International School has partnered Sustain Green to bring back the environment amid ongoing cases of massive deforestation in most parts of the country.

The school’s representative, Samuel Msiska has told Zodiak that the school is concerned with the current situation where people are carelessly cutting down trees.

“We decided to partner Sustain Green to come here at Kamwendo hills TA Machinjiri in Blantyre to plant trees. We have several initiatives to make sure that we participate in conserving the environment,” said Msiska.

He added that students at Central High remain committed to make sure that the environment is restored.

On his part, Village Headman Kamwendo has bemoaned continued wanton cutting down of trees for brick burning, charcoal and firewood.

“As leaders, we have always been worried about the current situation. We are however encouraging people to plant more trees,” said VH Kamwendo.

The village head went on to thank Central High International and Sustain Green for bringing about 2, 000 tree seedlings to plant in their hills.

“We will coordinate with various stakeholders including the forestry village committee to water the trees to make sure that they survive,” explained the village head.
