Bliss GVS India Donates Drugs to QECH
Authorities at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) have asked the private sector to increase support in complementing government’s efforts in supplying medicines to public health facilities.
Speaking after receiving a donation of assorted drugs from Bliss GVS India through its local partner, Pharmavet Limited Malawi, Hospital Director Dr Samson Mndolo admitted that although the hospital has some drugs in stock, it also lacks other essential medicines.
“As a hospital, we are grateful for this donation as it will significantly help us to take care of our patients.
“We therefore ask the private sector to continue assisting public health facilities with drugs so that people should access quality services,” said Dr Mndolo.
He added that they will use the drugs in the best interest of the people.
Country Head of Bliss GVS India/Pharmevet Limited Malawi Sharad Kamtekar said they decided to assist the central hospital with drugs close to K5 million as one way of corporate social responsibility.
“We have a responsibility to support people within the area we operate. Therefore, this is part of the company’ corporate social responsibility,” explained he.
