Nsanje Catholic Parish Launches Centenary Celebrations
The country’s Catholic faithful have been tipped to reflect on their spiritual life and ensure adherence to the church’s doctrine.
His Lordship Bishop Peter Musikuwa of Chikwawa Diocese, has noted that with time a lot of things are changing hence the needful for the faithful to avoid copying things that are not in tandem with Catholic teachings.
Bishop Musikuwa made the call on Sunday at Nsanje Parish Centenary Jubilee launch where he underscored the need for the faithful to deepen their faith.
“You will be celebrating a jubilee soon. This signifies growth and calls for reflection, are our actions in line with the church’s doctrine, are we following the teachings in our families.
“Each one of us should look at this at family or parish level. As a Catholic what I am I doing to deepen our faith,” said Bishop Musikuwa.
He added, “Pray more besides you should live a Christian life. Commit yourselves to religious activities. Remember the church is in your hands, the Missionaries did their part,” said Bishop Musikuwa.
The Chikwawa Diocese Bishop seized the opportunity to urge the Catholic faithful, “to protect the country’s environment.”
On his part, Nsanje Parish Priest Father Tobias Mbalale said, “So we are celebrating that we have been ministering to God for 100 years. We have managed to proclaim the word of God for such a long time.
“So, for us this is an important occasion because we will nourish again our spiritual lives.
He added, “We have tried to commission our representatives. These are chairpersons in different churches including in out stations. They should go and proclaim the word of God,” explained Father Mbalale.
He told Zodiak the leadership have been given the mandate to do a lot of activities saying, “this will help us to celebrate in a better way.
“Some have started activities such as building churches. Let’s complete those projects so that by the time we will celebrate the centenary proper everything should be fine.”
Meanwhile according to Father Mbalale the preparations for the centenary slated for November 19 2022 are on course.
“We have started at a good note. We are doing a lot of fundraising activities to raise money and because the Bishop has launched the centenary celebration, more activities will come; prayer sessions, retreats, not forgetting real activities that bring us money so that the celebration should be colorful.”
