Phalombe CSOs Yet to Sign MoU

The Phalombe Civil Society Organization Network has conceded that most of the organizations operating in the district have not signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the district council.

The network’s Chairperson, Richard Chiputula Muluzi, told Zodiak Online on Monday that the delay has occurred following inclusion of NGO board representative as one of the signatories, arguing they would want to sign an agreement with district council only.

Muluzi said the network would want to continue with the first arrangement where an agreement was signed between an organization and the district council.

"The network is planning to engage Phalombe district council officials to understand the new arrangement and iron out grey areas surrounding signing of the MoU," said Muluzi.

Meanwhile, Phalombe district council spokesperson, Matthews Mkandawire, said only four organizations that have introduced their projects this year in the district have signed the MoU with the council.

Authorities believe signing of MoU will improve service delivery in the district.

About 30 non-governmental organizations are operating in Phalombe district.
