Nzimbiri Primary School Teachers in Thyolo in Week Two of Sit-In

Teachers at Nzimbiri Primary school in Thyolo are holding a sit-in since last week Tuesday following a disagreement with one of the parents who allegedly sent magic bees to a teacher.

Two teachers told Zodiak Online Friday that their fellow wanted to punish one of the learners who was playing at the heap of sand which has been fetched for construction works.

But they said the learner rudely went away and reported the matter to his parents who threatened to send the bees.

Now, the teachers have vowed "we will resume work after an assurance on our protection from the authorities and communities because after the threat, the bees really came the following day and covered the teacher's beddings."

The teachers added that this is not the first time as one other teacher got paralysed for a year on similar grounds.

School's headteacher Handy Yandani, confirmed to Zodiak about the matter on Friday, but claimed they resolved the issue and lessons resumed, something teachers disputed the same day.

"We decided to call the stakeholders, such as village head, faith leaders and PTA members and we resolved the matter. We have now resumed work," Yandani said.

Meanwhile, Thyolo District Director of Education, Youth and Sports Chrissy Chinsale, said, she has not received any report, but will follow up the matter.
