Crime Declines in Luchenza

Luchenza Police Station in Thyolo has registered a 1.9% decrease in crime from January to March 2022.

Officer In-charge Emmanuel Chisoma told a security meeting that in the period under review, the station recorded 101 cases, slightly lower than the 103 of 2021.

"As police, we are trying to ensure a good relationship between the communities and police officers,” he said.

Chisoma added: "It is my plea to everyone to desist from taking laws into their hands. We should, at all cost, avoid damaging police property like what happened at Bvumbwe Police."

He said, among others, the station is faced with fuel shortage to undertake effective policing operations.

Meanwhile, Luchenza Municipal Council Mayor Saizi Simeji and Traditional Authority Nanseta have pledged to provide 15 and 10 litres of fuel every month respectively to ease operations at the station for the next three months.
