Civil Servants for Revision of Govt Policy on Transfers

The Civil Servants Trade Union (CSTU) says it is looking for ways that will assist civil servants follow each other when one spouse is transferred to another duty station.

CSTU Acting Secretary General, Mabvuto Kawonga, feels government should move employees whose partners get transferred considering travel costs they incur when they are separated.

The acting general secretary Mabvuto Kawonga has emphasised the need for the government to put a workable policy in place to consider spouses intending to transfer.

Minister of labour, Vera Kantukule says there is also a need to strike a balance between filling of vacancies and gaps created by the transfer.

Some civil servants have been calling for a revision of the policy owing to the cost of living and distances spouses have to travel while apart.
