The organization's project coordinator, Blessings Chikopa, told Online on Saturday  that research has shown that most beneficiaries drop out of school despite having access to educational support to continue schooling, hence; the call.

Chikopa said this  is detrimental to efforts by various education stakeholders that source support to help needy learners.

He said: "We are encouraging these beneficiaries to use the opportunity at hand appropriately as research has shown that most beneficiaries drop out of  school once picked,"

Chikopa added that the organization is working with social welfare and education offices in the district  to ensure that beneficiaries are not dropping out of school.

Meanwhile, the organization has donated school uniforms and exercise books to 105 needy learners in primary and secondary schools beside paying school fees in schools to learners drawn from the area of senior chief Nazombe in the district.

One of the beneficiaries, a form three  student  at Michesi Secondary School,  Selina Kaponda  School says the support is timely.

"I am thankful to Share and Care for supporting me with my education needs I nearly dropped out of school but when I consulted the organization I was offered support," said Kaponda.

Another beneficiary, James Nandolo, who is studying theology at University of Malawi said his dreams  were shuttered after getting selected to the university due to lack of fees.

Nandolo has hailed the organization for bailing him out of the predicament adding he will finish studies without being withdrawn from the college due to  fees.

An official from Phalombe Social Office, Stanley Gundeni, has lauded the organization for the timely support to needy learners in the district.

Gundeni said the district has a lot of children in need of education support but has only five organizations supporting learners with school fees  in community day secondary schools.

SC is assisting needy learners with support from Abbas Rest of Scotland.
