SRWB Concludes Migowi Water Project Paperwork

The Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) says it is in the process of finding a contractor to construct the Migowi Water Supply System Project in Phalombe.

Chief Executive Officer for the water utility body, Duncan Chambamba, told Zodiak Online on Wednesday that all things being equal, the project will commence in March 2023.

"We have concluded all the paper work and what has remained is the process to procure a contractor which is underway," said Chambamba.

Spokesperson for Phalombe District Health Office, Daniel Chilomo, has asked authorities to timely deliver on the water project.

He said with the facility currently using saline water, life span of its medical equipment is at risk now.

According to the Board, apart from construction of water supply system in Migowi, the board is also planning to upgrade the water supply system in Liwonde, Mwanza, Fatima, Ulongwe and Thondwe to the tune of US$ 65 million.

Once implemented, the project is expected to curb water challenges people of Migowi area and part of Kambona where the newly built Phalombe District Hospital is located.
