Man with Albinism Missing in Phalombe

A 39-year-old man with albinism from Phalombe is missing three days after he was last seen.

Association of Persons with Albinism (APAM) president, Young Muhamba, and Village Head man Tezanga where the man comes from have confirmed to Zodiak Online on Wednesday.

The man, Ajack Namanya, was last seen on January 29, 2023 at one of the drinking joints under Traditional Authority (TA) Chiwalo in the district.

The two claim only a shoe and a cap for Namanya were found the following day.

"We are appealing to security agents in the country to enhance security so that people with albinism should be living peacefully,” said Muhamba.

National Police Spokesperson, Peter Kalaya, has confirmed the matter, adding officers and relatives are still on the ground searching for him.

He said they will update the nation once investigations into the matter are concluded.

Persons with albinism are attacked in Malawi due to myths that their bones can be used to create good luck.
