Mangochi Police Station Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, has identified a Rwandan as Manuel Saidi,19 and Amosi Sean, 30 a Burundian.
Tepani Daudi said when William was arrested within Mangochi main market, on 13 February 2023, he named the two foreigners as master-minders. However, police noted that the duo had already bolted.
Tepani Daudi said on February 17, 2023 officers from Fort Maguire Police Unit (about 139 Kms from Mangochi Boma) arrested the two at Chiphole Trading Centre following a tip from members of the community after spotting the two buying food using the fake notes.
"The suspects were found with K165,000 in K5,000 notes and led the Police and Reserve Bank of Malawi Investigation Unit to one of the rest houses within Mangochi Boma where they recovered a Canon printer, plain papers, razor blades, three printing color gels, scissors and blanket," explained Tepani Daudi, saying William has also identified them and have demonstrated the fake money making process.
She said the suspects will appear before court after the completion of paperwork.
