ACB Advances on Source Books in Primary Schools
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) says it is finalizing the development of a source book on Anti-corruption education that will soon be inducted in the primary school education.
ACB Public Education Officer, Jessie Mwale, says they are printing the book together with the Malawi Institute of Education (MIE), adding it will address knowledge gap and inculcate the Anti-Corruption culture and integrity for children to be agents of change as they grow up.
Mwale who visited Mawira Private School and Liwonde Community Day Secondary School in Machinga on Friday noted that youths in the country are unaware of what corruption is despite being victims of the malpractice.
"We have observed that most youths in the country need to be trained in what Corruption is, so this source book aims to address that gap," said Mwale.
"I can confirm that the source book will be released soon for schools in the country. We are working with stakeholders in the education sector on the program," she added.
Deputy Headteacher at Liwonde CDSS, Gaudencia Macholowe Ngozo, have lauded the Bureau for the initiative, saying it will assist in creating a corrupt-free nation.
"This is the way to go. As you know the country is facing challenges induced by acts of corruption, so we need to teach the little ones on the vice and it's dangers for them to understand and be agents of change," said Ngozo.
Early last year, the bureau revealed plans to engage education education authorities to introduce Anti-corruption education in the country's system, as part of the fight against the vice.
