Robbers Rob 2 Businessmen Of K4 million in Thyolo

Police in Thyolo are hunting for unknown armed criminals who have robbed two businessmen of K4 million in separate incidents.

South East Region Police spokesperson, Edward Kabango, told Zodiak Online on Tuesday that at around 9 PM of Monday, the suspects had hidden inside a cabin of an abandoned police check point near Planters Tea Agency (PTA) at Nambala 1.

Kabango said the robbers then disguised themselves as police officers before blocking one businessman and robbed him off K3 million.

"And this morning, the assailants who were using a white Toyota Sienta, also blocked another businessman who was going to Limbe at Hatchery and stole one million Kwacha," Kabango said.

He added that after communities and police traced the vehicle, the robbers, who were armed with an unidentified fire arm and panga knives dumped the vehicle at Gunda Community Day Secondary School in the district.

This comes a month after some two-armed robbers also shot dead a motorcycle taxi operator at Thunga Trading center in the district, in a foiled robbery.
