Magomero Community College Under Fire
About 27 students undergoing an Integrated Social Protection (ISP) course at Magomero Community College in Chiradzulu have blamed the college authorities for delaying payment of their field placement allowances a development the students fear will affect their overall performance.
One of the students attending the European Union (EU) funded program has told Zodiak that the development has made them to be encountering various logistical challenges mainly mobility challenges in the various districts they have been placed as part of their field practical.
"It's now close to one and half months since we were sent into about ten districts of the country among them Ntcheu,Balaka, Mangochi and Lilongwe where we are doing our field practical. We were promised that each of us was to be given about K80,000 for our upkeep during the three months we are to do the field work. To our surprise till now the college authorities are to honour this pledge. Our only worry is that this will affect our performance ",said one of the concerned student on condition of anonymity.
However the college principal, Thokozani Ntapaonga has faulted the students for lacking patience regarding the matter saying procedurally, the students were supposed to get the allowances between week number six and seven of their field placement.
Magomelo Community Development College is an old government tertiary institution which dates back in 1963.
