The District Health Office in Mulanje says it has resumed its mobile clinic services to areas that were heavily hit by Cyclone Freddy and are currently impassable.
District Medical Officer Dr. Lloyd Njikho said the services were suspended when the choppers were withdrawn.

He said this on Thursday when Actions for Progress donated assorted medical drugs to the facility.

“We are just coming out of the Tropical Cyclone Freddy disaster and we used most of our drugs to assist people in camps, so this donation will greatly help us,” said Dr. Njikho.

He then thanked Action for Progress for the support which were pain killers and antibiotics.

Executive Director of Action for Progress Wilson Isaac Tembo told Zodiak Online that health is one of their pillars and realizing that Mulanje is one of the districts that were affected by the cyclone, with heath services being affected, they decided to source the drugs from overseas and donate to the district hospital.

“We expect that these drugs will not be abused but used properly’” said Tembo.

Apart from health, Tembo says Action for Progress also implements agriculture, education and humanitarian aid projects.
