The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has urged the country’s youth to desist from falling into politicians' trap by inciting violence, saying once caught they will face the long arm of the law.

The party’s director of youth, Steve Malondera says young people must always be exemplary by being agents of change and not advocates of violence.

Malondera said this at Migowi in Phalombe during a political rally.

Marondera said the youth in the country have been engaged in misbehavior which does not benefit their well-being.

"It is high time the youth acquire Neef [National Economic Empowerment Fund] loans to get empowered economically rather than inciting violence," said Marondera.

He has appealed to the country’s young people from all political parties to desist from inciting violence during political rallies.

Paramount Chief Kaduya of the Lhomwe people has asked the government to adjust upwards the number of Affordable Inputs Programme beneficiaries in the district.

Kaduya argues that the current number is minimal, hence the appeal.
