Man Shot for Trespassing State House

A man is enduring gunshot wounds at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital in Blantyre after being shot on both legs by security officers for trespassing Sanjika palace.

Sources allege that the man who was driving a vehicle was totally drunk.

It is reported that the man hit the first gate and proceeded to hit the second gate which forced security officers to shoot him.

The incident happened on Saturday night.

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera was at the time at Sanjika Palace.

“The man was in a drunken state. He drove through the first and second gates when the Sanjika guards shot at his vehicle in an attempt to forcefully stop him,” said the source.

The man sustained gunshot wounds on both his legs.

Meanwhile, police say investigations are in progress to establish the motive.

State house and Queen Elizabeth Hospital officials have refused to comment on the matter.
