Mozambican Cholera Case Suspect Tests Negative

Laboratory tests on a Mozambican national who was admitted to Ntcheu District Hospital last week for suspected cholera has came out negative.

Ntcheu District Health Office Spokesperson, Stella Kawalala, told Zodiak Online that the 33-yea-old man hailed from Benjamin Village, Angonia District in neighboring Mozambique.

"The suspected cholera patient was admitted to Ntcheu District Hospital on 17 January 2020 from Mozambique. The patient cholera samples have now come out negative," said Kawalala.

Kawalala said the patient has already been discharged from the hospital.

So far, apart from Ntcheu, suspected cholera cases have also been reported in Mangochi and Blantyre.

In Blantyre, out of three suspected cases, one has come out positive, this according to the Ministry of Health.
