Such districts include Ntcheu which borders with Mozambique.
Bintony Kutsaira told Zodiak Online Monday in Ntcheu during a tree planting exercise that it is worrisome their efforts to restore forest is being compromised.
"Government is spending a lot money in managing and restoring forest cover in the country. However with reports of deforestation, we will soon begin holding talks with neighbouring countries on how to address the issue," he said.
Kutsaira said this will be done through a joint commission on security beside sensitizing communities on their role in protecting forest.
Inkosi ya Makhosi Gomani V says he will engage chiefs in neighboring Mozambique and those under his jurisdiction to address the issue at hand.
During the 2019/2020 Tree Planting Season, Ntcheu district forest office it intends to plant over 1 million tree seedlings.
In the meantime, 1.6 % of the country's forest cover is being depleted annually.
