Hungry Constituents Chase MP From Admarc Maize Selling Point

Parliamentarian for Dedza Central East McStain Mkomba was chased on Wednesday chased away from Kaphuka Admarc market after a disagreement arose with chiefs and villagers in the area.

Speaking to Zodiak Online, Group village headman Kakhome accused the MP of ill-treating chiefs and villagers in the area on account that he did not get many votes there.

Mkomba was making rounds visiting Admarc markets in Dedza Central East constituency to appreciate how communities are accessing maize.

It is alleged that the legislator influenced some Admarc officials not to sell maize to these villagers in this area on account of the outcomes of elections last May.

Group Village Headman Kakhome who represented the disgruntled villagers confirmed to us that the MP barred people from Chongoni ward to access maize.

On Wednesday, Mkomba visited another Kaphuka that is in Chongoni Ward and this did not please villagers.

“The angry villagers instead turned on the MP and chased him out of the Admarc premises,” said Kakhome.

But the parliamentarian refutes this ever happened: “My visit was aimed at ensuring vendors are not dominating in buying the maize.

“It's unfortunate that some chiefs and vendors were not happy with my presence but l went there to help the villagers,” said Nkomba.

There are reports of poor working relationship between the MP and his subjects in some wards since he was voted into office on May 21st, 2019.
