Civil Servants Ignore MCP-UTM Alliance Call - Stay Away From Work Demos

This week, the MCP and UTM alliance called for a stay-away from work as demonstration against President Peter Mutharika’s decision not to fire MEC commissioners and also to withdraw assent to electoral reform bills. But it appears that did not work given the feedback gathered.

In Mzuzu and Blantyre, our reporters Towera Kumwenda and Happy Njalammano find that it has been business as usual in government offices.

It appears a government warning issued to civil servants has prevented those who may have wished to stay away to report for duties.
