In a statement issued last night, the Malawi Law Society suggests unity of purpose among political leaders, the presidency and parliament to review, pass and assent to new public health laws in light of the pandemic as has been the case in UK with the Corona Virus Act of year 2020.

It appears that in the circumstances, certain actions may not be taken legally because of wanting legislation in Malawi. We shall be giving you details on that developing story in our subsequent news casts.

Meanwhile, President Peter Mutharika says his administration has intensified surveillance in the wake of the confirmation of Corona virus on Malawi soils.

Mutharika said this in his public address last evening when he disclosed that a 61 year old woman who was recently in India and two others; her relative and a house maid at their residence in Area 9 have tested positive to corona virus.
