6 New Cases of Coronavirus; Lilongwe Most Hit

The number people infected with the novel coronavirus in the country has jumped to 23 in the last 24 hours.

This after six cases were confirmed, all from Lilongwe.

Making announcement in Blantyre, principal secretary in the ministry of health Dr Dan Namalika said 17 contacts are being tracked in relation to the new confirmed cases.

Dr. Namalika said he was concerned that the case that has infected four others is resident in a high density area called Kaliyeka in Lilongwe and that one of those he infected lives in area 25. The sixth case is a person resident in Area 3 who recently travelled to India.

Meanwhile;

The US Embassy in Malawi will from this Friday start repatriating it's Citizens amid the global COVID-19 outbreak on 24th April.

The evacuation of the United States citizens will be done at Kamuzu International airport and the process will be on reimbursable basis.
