Stray Buffaloes Threatening Lives of People Amid Rangers’ Industrial Action

Buffaloes have strayed from Lengwe and Vwaza game reserves amid an industrial action by all game rangers who are demanding improved working conditions.

Spokesperson for the game rangers, Parks and Wildlife Assistant Twambi Chimimba says it is unlikely they will drive back the stray game due to the strike.

Director of Parks and Wildlife Brighton Kumchedwa while confirming the strike said the straying of the buffaloes was not related to the industrial action by the game rangers.

Meanwhile, people from five villages in the area of Chief Ngabu in Chikwawa are living in fear because of buffalos that are causing havoc.

Ward Councillor of Alumenda ward Khofati Malunga told Zodiak today that about five buffaloes believed to have escaped from Lengwe National park are terrorising the area since last week, disrupting people farming activities.
