Supreme Court Uphold High Court Judgment Which Nullified Mangochi West Constituency Results
The Supreme Court of Appeal has upheld the high court judgment which had nullified the parliamentary election for Mangochi West Constituency results of May 2019.
Independent aspiring Member of Parliament, Simeon Harrison, dragged Malawi Electoral Commission to court for declaring Democratic Progressive Party’s Geoffrey Chiwondo winner of May 2019 parliamentary elections.
Last year, Judge Sylvester Kalembera of the High Court nullified the Mangochi West parliamentary election and ordered a rerun but the electoral body appealed against the ruling.
Meanwhile, MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulira says the commission will comment at an appropriate time regarding the way forward of the ruling.
