Finance Min. Mwanamvekha presents 2020/21 Budget; Pegged at K2.2 trillion

The 2020/2021 National Budget has been pegged at 2.2 trillion Kwacha with the Ministry of Education getting the biggest allocation.

This is an increase of 9 percent from the ending 2019/2020 budget.

The budget statement has been presented in parliament by Minister of Finance Joseph Mwanamvekha on Friday.

He has admitted that the implementation of the budget is expected to be challenging because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile Economic analyst Dr Betchani Tchereni has expressed reservations with the 2.2 trillion 2020/2021 National budget describing it as consumer based, other than one that would spur economic growth

Dr Tchereni, a lecturer at the Polytechnic, says there also a number of misallocations in the budget.
