Kasungu Municipality to Borrow COVID Funds to Pay Off Its Striking Workers

Kasungu Municipality has passed a resolution to borrow 13 Million Kwacha from COVID funds to pay off its striking direct and temporary workers.

This was agreed at a full council meeting on Tuesday where financial reports showed that the council has been failing to raise enough revenue against its wage bill.

Mayor for Kasungu Municipal Council has however downplayed the fears that the move would paralyze efforts to combat the spread of COVID 19 the council.

The council owes its workers an excess of over 30 million in wages.
