Castel & MW Distilleries Ltd to Merge, Analyst Predicts Downsizing in Human Resource

Malawi Distilleries Limited and a subsidiary of a French Giant beverage manufacturer Castel Malawi Brewery have expressed intention to merge the two companies, according to a Gazette General Notice, number 82 of 31st July 2020.

A Business and Economic expert Dumbani Mzale says while this means that the two companies will have an increased market share and retain more profits, their merger may result in the company downsizing in human resource.

Mzale added that Malawian consumers will enjoy better products from the new company, but local imbibers should brace for a rise in the price of their favorite beverage, owing to a monopolized market given the company’s competitive urge.
