Over 700 vulnerable people in Likoma Island will now be able to access face masks at a subsidized price of about 100 kwacha each, courtesy of the Member of Parliament for the Island Christopher Ashemes Songwe.

Songwe told Zodiak Online Tuesday that this is his contribution to his constituents to equip them in the fight against the raging pandemic.

The parliamentarian told Zodiak reporter in Likoma Shamuda Drake that he has secured some funds and cloth material which will expectedly produce 700 plus face masks.

He is targeting the vulnerable which includes the elderly and those with underlying conditions.

Meanwhile, Traditional Authority (TA) Mkumpha 3 has welcomed the initiative describing it as a relief to those that cannot manage to buy the preventive materials at K500.
