The two are being accused of stealing government property, precisely 10 Hp desktops and 3 generators purchased by MACRA to the tune of 11.5 million kwacha, meant for district information offices across the country.
In his bail ruling, Nyimba noted that releasing the accused on bail will not in any way interfere with polices investigations and recovery of the missing items.
This was in response to the state's defense for bail as presented by state prosecutor Cecelia Zangazanga on 14th September, where she told the court that only 1 desktop and 1 generator have been recovered from the 1st and 2nd accused respectively, while the rest remain missing.
Munthali and Mussa's bail is on condition that they surrender their travel documents to the police, report every fortnight, provide a non-cash bail bond of 500,000 kwacha each as well as provide a reliable and traceable surety of 250,000 cash.
Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba has since adjourned the matter to 20th October 2020 for plea taking.
