Mchinji Registers an Increase in Murder And Defilement Cases

Over 753 crime cases have been registered in Mchinji from January to September 2020 compared to 560 cases registered in 2019 during the same period, representing a 34.4 percent increase.

For example, the border district has recorded 49 defilement cases from January to September 2020, up from 23 cases registered same period last year, whilst murder cases have risen to 20 from 10, representing 113 percent and 100 percent respectively.

General Duties Officer for Mchinji police Senior Superintendent Jameson Mwale said currently police in the border district have intensified awareness campaigns to communities especially in hotspot areas
