Gvt Awaits Lab Results From SA to Ascertain if MW Has New Strain of COVID19

Staying with the pandemic, government awaits results of tests from a laboratory in South Africa to ascertain if the country has a new strain of Covid-19.

Secretary for Health Dr. Charles Mwansambo says there are signs that Malawi could be battling a new strain as witnessed by a sharp rise in transmissions and deaths.

Speaking exclusively to our TIUZENI ZOONA radio program, Dr. Mwansambo also said government is working in the interest of the people to ensure it administers safe Covid- 19 vaccine beginning June this year.

Meanwhile, Publicity Secretary for the Muslim Association of Malawi, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, has asked government to consider organizing a special day of national prayers.
