Border Reaffirmation Exercise Robes Mangochi Villagers Farm Land

Malawians living on the border with Mozambique around Makanjira in Mangochi say they are now paying to access their gardens after some of their land was declared foreign following border reaffirmation exercise.

Senior Group Village headman Malamya, said this yesterday when presidential advisor on political affairs, Ephraim Chivunde, addressed a rally in the area. He said chiefs and security agencies are now demanding 12 thousand kwacha and at least two bags of maize after harvesting from the said pieces of land.

Chivunde, who is also the Peoples Party Vice president for the South has pledged to take the matter to relevant authorities who should find a solution to the problem.
