Legislator Pushes For Devolving of Emergency Fund To Constituency Level

A legislator is pushing for the devolving of the District Emergency Fund to the constituency level, arguing that this can assist in ensuring timely response to natural disasters at local level.

The parliamentarian, Darlington Harawa, from Dowa Central Constituency says he has already written the Minister of Finance seeking consent to move a motion in parliament on this matter.

But Economic Expert Milward Tobias cautions that this can cause accountability and transparency challenges in the management of the funds.
