Parley Committee On Agriculture Calls For AIP Review

The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture has called for a comprehensive review of the Affordable Inputs Program in view of failure by 76 suppliers to provide fertilizer and seed in the ongoing implementation exercise.

In an interview this morning, Committee Chairperson, Sameer Suileman, said the committee has since summoned relevant stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, to explain measures being taken to ensure the current situation, does not affect the country's maize production. 
 
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture says will terminate contracts provided to the suppliers while consulting relevant officials on the next course of action.
