MRA Closes Palm Rock & Corporate Malls, Business Owners Worried

Business owners that operate in Palm Rock Mall and Corporate Mall in Lilongwe have expressed frustration at the closure of the two buildings by the Malawi Revenue Authority MRA over nonpayment of income taxes.

The buildings have been closed since Friday last week.

One of the businesspeople Isaiah Dzimbiri has bemoaned the closure saying their businesses are losing customers.

While there has been no comment from owners of the buildings, MRA marketing officer Wilma Chalulu, says the amount due in income tax is 570 million kwacha.
