Magawa Students Torch Headteacher's House
Students at Magawa Secondary School in Mchinji, Malawi, last night set on fire their head-teacher's house and the school accounts offices as they protested failure by school authorities to address their grievances.
Three weeks ago, the students marched to the District Education Manager's office where among other things they complained about lack of mattresses, poor diet and unnecessary dismissal of students by the school management.
Besides torching the head-teacher's office and accounts office, the students have also smashed classroom window panes and damaged a hostel at the institution.
