Govt Optimistic About Resumption of IMF Credit Funding

The Minister of finance Sosten Gwengwe says government remains optimistic about the resumption of the International Monetary Fund’s credit funding to the country.

The minister reiterated the position today at a press briefing ahead of an IMF mission visit to Malawi next week for negotiations on the resumption of the Extended Credit Facility.

Mr. Gwengwe said a series of talks the government has had with the IMF in the past three months have been fruitful.

An IMF team last visited Malawi in December.
