Monkeypox Outbreak, Ministry on Alert

The Ministry of Health says it is monitoring the situation in other countries following the outbreak of Monkeypox in other countries to prevent the disease from spreading to Malawi.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Adrian Chikumbe told us they are using approved surveillance and response systems besides screening travelers and have devised means to manage suspected cases.

Health expert Professor Adamson Muula told us it will be difficult prevent the disease from spreading into the country without intensifying the public health response system.
