Ban Export of Unprocessed Animal Hides, Leather Producer Pleads with Govt

Leather manufacturing company Trogon Trading Limited has pleaded with the government to impose a ban on the exportation of unprocessed animal hides, saying it is affecting their business by causing shortages of law material locally.

Director of Operations at the company Mohan Suresh spoken yesterday when the minister of trade and industry, Mark Katsonga Phiri paid a visit to the Liwonde based company.

Suresh said the company is surprised as to why export licenses for animal skins are issued when leather manufacturing companies in the country failing to meet the local demand.
