MoH Admits Failure To Reduce Infant Mortality Rate

The Ministry of Health has admitted its failure to reducing infant mortality rate in the last five years.

Statistics show that the rate is at 26% per 1,000 live births, while for one-year babies is at 40% and 56% for under-five children, which officials say is worrisome.

The ministry’s spokesperson Adrian Chikumbe has attributed this to infections, maternal complications during delivery and women coming late to health facilities when they are due to giving birth.
