Inter-Village ‘War’ in Lilongwe

Villagers at Masinja in Lilongwe have abandoned homes following attacks by people from a neighboring village with whom they have been quarreling over land issues.

Western Guta, our reporter who visited the area yesterday counted over 50 burnt houses while those that still stand had no occupants.

A villager told us scores of families are now living in the bush fearing for their lives as the misunderstandings have turned violent.

There has been no police presence in the area.
