MW May Not Adopt Virginal Ring As an HIV Control Measure-Ministry

Ministry of Health has disclosed that the country may not adopt dapivirine viginal ring as an HIV/AIDS complementary prevention measure despite the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommending the method in 2021.

Director of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other Sexually Transmitted infections in the Ministry, Rose Nyirenda says the method has proven to have slightly lower efficiency rate of around 50 percent hence the decision.

Public health expert, Professor Adamson Muula says much as the decision may not compromise the HIV/AIDS fight in the country, the measure still remains a best alternative for females.
