Special Law Commission Proposes Establishment of a Health Insurance System

A Special Law Commission on the Review of the Public Health Act has proposed the establishment of a health insurance system for all workers in the country.

Deputy Chairperson for the commission, Dr Annie Phoya notes that most of the country’s health facilities are faced with critical shortage of supplies and health workers which could improve with a public health insurance system in place.

Dr Phoya was speaking in Lilongwe during a three-day dialogue on health financing that has brought together delegates from different countries in the SADC region.
