MoH Runs Out of Cholera Vaccine

The Ministry of Health has disclosed that it has run out of the cholera vaccine and has called on Malawians to adhere to strict preventive measures.

This comes at the peak of the prolonged cholera outbreak in the country.

The ministry’ spokesperson, Adrian Chikumbe has told us that they are engaging the World Health Organization, WHO for more support.

Meanwhile, health rights activist, Maziko Matemba is pushing both the government and development partners to make sure that the vaccine is available quickly as a way of containing the cholera outbreak.

Meanwhile, Health authorities in Lilongwe say the cholera situation now demands all Malawians to rise and find means that will stop its further spread.

Acting District Medical Officer Dr. Thokozani Liwewe made the remarks when the Amref Health Africa and Islamic Benefit Trust organizations donated medical supplies towards addressing the outbreak, which she says has left the hospital strained.
