ConCourt Judge Sends Public Out of Gallery

Constitutional Court is hearing proceedings with an empty public gallery after judge Ivy Kamanga ordered people sitting in the gallery hearing the presidential election case to go out because they were interrupting proceedings.

This followed murmuring, cheering and jeering that erupted as MEC witness, Henzly Mukhondia, responded to cross-examination questions by UTM lawyer Khumbo Soko.

The incident forced a short-adjournment from where judge Kamanga also cautions witness Mungondia on the manner in which he was responding to cross-examination. Judge Kamanga reminded Munkhondia his conduct would have effect on the judgment that the court would eventually give.

President judge Healy Potani has since announced that the public will be allowed back in the public gallery when the court reconvenes this afternoon. Cross-examination continues.
