COMESA Urge Countries to Invest in Early Warnings Other than Emergencies

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa- COMESA has urged member states to carry out and implement Structural Vulnerability Assessments to find resilient ways of addressing climatic shocks hampering peace and prosperity in the region.

COMESA head of governance, peace and security Elizabeth Mutunga said this on Monday at the opening of the Structural Vulnerability Assessment multi-stakeholder consultative workshop in Lilongwe.

Meanwhile director of economic planning in the ministry of finance and economic affairs Jolam Banda says the structural vulnerabilities have exposed the country’s economy to severe impacts of shocks such as cyclones Anna and Freddy.
