Kanengo & Old Town to Connect Over 80 000 New Customers to Power
Over 80, 000 new households are expected to benefit from the Lilongwe City Substations Improvement Project currently underway, co-financed by the Japanese and Malawi governments, a development the ministry of energy says will enhance social economic development in the country.
The ministry’s Principle Secretary Engineer Alfonso Chikuni said this on Wednesday when appraising the media on the progress made on the project of improving and upgrading substations of Kanengo and Old Town in Lilongwe city.
Meanwhile, Charge d'Affaires, Embassy of Japan in Malawi Seiji Tashiro whose country is co-financing the project to a tune of 19 billion kwacha, says his government wants Malawians to have access to improved transmission and distribution of energy for reliable and stable supply of electricity for sustainable social economic development.
