ICRISAT Urges Govt to Invest More in Millet Production
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has tipped Malawi to diversify her agricultural production systems and invest more in climate resilient crops amid weather shocks.
ICRISAT Africa Director Dr. Rebbie Harawa said this on Thursday in Lilongwe during a Pre-Conference event for the India-Africa International Millet Conference which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, end August.
Meanwhile Director of Agriculture Research Services in the ministry of agriculture Dr Grace Kaudzu says the country needs to develop high yielding varieties of millets which can benefit smallholder farmers.
